Find the Book Challenge 2nd April 2016

International Children’s Book day is celebrated on the 2nd of April each year, since 1967. The significance of this date is that it is Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday - the author of 168 children’s tales, of which the most famous are The little Mermaid, Princess and The Pea, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor’s New Clothes, and Thumbelina.

For International Children’s Book Day 2016, The Cape Town Museum of Childhood hosted the “Find The Book” challenge to celebrate childhood and create excitement about reading for children. 50 gift wrapped children’s books were hidden across Cape Town and clues for finding them were posted on our social media. Once a book was found, the finder was instructed to post a photo to our social media to stand a chance to win a R1000 Exclusive Books voucher, and a book hamper to be donated to a preschool of their choice!

Well done to Bronwyn for posting the winning photo on Facebook! She chose to donate the exciting book hamper to God’s Little Lighthouse Preschool in Fish Hoek!

Thank you to Exclusive Books for donating all the books for this event.
