International Mother Tongue Day

21 February 2022

We collaborated with Khoi Khoi language activist Mr Denver Breda for International Mother Tongue Day. We visited Parkwood Busy Bees and Fairways ECD Centre to present a short programme to about 80 young children. Mr Breda read a story to the children which included words from the Khoi Khoi language. He also taught the children the Khoi Khoi version of a well-known song ‘You are my sunshine’. The children and teachers participated very enthusiastically in the programme and were eager for Mr Breda to return and teach them more about the Khoi Khoi language.
